Ya Nafsi

When the devils were chained,
With me my nafs remained.

I still continued to be,
The same old erring me.

My worship left me unsettled,
It was my nafs to be battled.

There was an enemy within,
That incited me to sin.

I had to curb it down,
Before it caused me to drown.

My nafs, preparing my fate?
By being shaitan’s bait.

This constant quest is still on,
And will be over when I’m gone.
